32-year-old died during delivery at government hospital
A day after a pregnant woman died of excessive bleeding during delivery at Government District Headquarters hospital at Kumbakonam, relatives on Monday staged a demonstration at the entrance, disrupting vehicular traffic on the main road for about half-an-hour.
Uma, 32, of Govindapuram near Kumbakonam, who was referred to GH from the Primary Health Centre, Narasinganpettai, due to complications during delivery, could not survive the bleeding after delivering a female baby.
Led by Kumbakonam unit Secretary of Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi Vivekanandan, the protesting relatives demanded action against those responsible for the woman’s death.Kumbakonam East Police prevailed upon the demonstrators to withdraw promising action.
