Six injured in multi-vehicle collision on Trichy-Madurai National Highway

According to the police, the accident happened as visibility was poor due to early morning rain.

Trichy: Six people suffered injuries in a collision involving five omnibuses and a truck on the Trichy-Madurai National Highway in the early hours of Friday. The affected traffic on the highway for around two hours.

The Trichy city police said a private omnibus heading to Sayalkudi rammed the median cum retaining wall on the Settiyapatti Koraiyar bridge near Panjapur around 3.30 am while attempting to overtake a truck.

The passengers got off the bus. After some time, a private omnibus rammed the stationary bus from behind. Another omnibus rammed the second one later. Further, two more omnibuses and a truck rammed the vehicles in front of them one after another.

Two drivers of omnibuses sustained fractures. They were admitted to Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital (MGMGH) in Trichy. Four passengers sustained minor injuries.

The Trichy police registered a case.
