The legal woes for YouTuber Savukku Shankar continue to mount as the Trichy police filed an additional criminal case against him on Friday, bringing the total number of cases to 10. This latest case involves allegations of verbal abuse and obstruction of duty against a woman sub-inspector.

The complaint was lodged by sub-inspector V Jothilakshmi from the All Women Police Station (AWPS) in Trichy Cantonment. She reported that Shankar had verbally abused and obstructed her while she was escorting him to court on May 15.

Currently detained under the Goondas Act, Shankar appeared before Additional Mahila Court Magistrate D Jayapradha after completing a one-day police custody granted on Thursday. Prior to this, he underwent mandatory medical examinations at Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital (MGMGH) in Trichy.

In a related development, the cybercrime police of Trichy district conducted searches at two container cottage houses reportedly owned by Shankar’s co-accused, Felix Gerald, in the Kottagacheri area near Koothanallur in Tiruvarur district. Gerald, the editor of the YouTube channel where Shankar made derogatory remarks against female police personnel, is currently incarcerated in Trichy central prison.

Both Shankar and Felix Gerald face similar charges in a case registered by the Cybercrime Police of Coimbatore. Consequently, they were transferred back to Coimbatore central prison later in the evening.
