Trichy: Two people were killed when a car rammed into a water truck parked on the national highway in Trichy. 6 people including 2 children were seriously injured.
Birthday party
Venkatachalam (age 64) hails from Arumuga Counter Road, Sundarapuram, Coimbatore. His wife Porkodi (55). The couple, along with their family and relatives, were traveling in a car to attend a relative’s birthday party at Palur, next to Trichy Number One Tollgate.
The car was driven by Perumal’s son Hariharan (22) from Sandalmedu area near Thaniyam. Venkatachalam’s mother Manonmani (83), cousins Ganesan’s wife Thanalakshmi (52), Lokeswaran’s wife Monica (32), his children Girija (6) and Raikrish (2) were traveling in the car.
A car hit a lorry
The car was coming on the Trichy-Chennai National Highway at Koothur near Trichy Number One Tollgate. At that time, the highway department employees stopped the water truck without taking any safety precautions to water the saplings on the sides of the highway and were engaged in the process of watering the saplings.
Then the car unexpectedly collided behind the truck and crashed. The front of the car was crushed by the impact. All occupants of the car involved in the accident were seriously injured. Neighbors who saw the accident rescued the injured and sent them by ambulance to private and government hospitals in Trichy for treatment. There they were admitted to the intensive care unit.
2 people died
Venkatachalam and Thanalakshmi, 2 of which died tragically within a short time without treatment. Also, 6 people including 2 children who were seriously injured are undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit. Due to this accident on the national highway, the traffic was affected for more than an hour and the vehicles were lined up in a long queue.
On being informed about the accident, Kollidam Police Sub-Inspector Regi and the police rushed to the spot and recovered the accident car with the help of a crane and cleared the traffic. The police have registered a case and are investigating the accident.
