Trichy: A 24-year-old man died allegedly due to strangulation while playing in a makeshift baby cradle.
The deceased was identified as M Beer Mohammed, of Pillaiyar Street near Trichy International Airport. Preliminary investigation revealed that Mohammed was married person and had three children. He used to consume liquor regularly. On Sunday night, he was under the influence of alcohol and was playing with his children. He sat in the sari cradle tied to the ceiling of his house and asked his children to sit on him. While rotating the cradle the sari got entangled around his neck. His wife found her husband lying unconscious and alerted their neighbours. He was rushed to the Mahatma Gandhi memorial government hospital (MGMGH) in Trichy, but was declared brought dead.
Acting on a complaint from his sister, police registered a case of unnatural death. Police said on Tuesday that investigation showed that he died of strangulation accidentally. The body was handed over to his family after the postmortem.
