SBI Presents Rs 70 Lakh Compensation to Family of Deceased Tiruchy Constable

TIRUCHY: In a solemn ceremony attended by the City Commissioner of Police, the State Bank of India (SBI) disbursed a compensation of Rs 70 lakh to the grieving family of a head constable who lost his life while on duty in Tiruchy.

The tragic incident occurred on July 30 when the head constable, attached to the traffic unit, was struck by a car at the Aristo roundabout. Despite immediate efforts to transport him to a private hospital, the constable, identified as A Sridhar, succumbed to his injuries on August 1, as confirmed by Tiruchy City Commissioner of Police, A Sridhar.

In response to the untimely demise, Chief Minister MK Stalin announced a solatium of Rs 25 lakh for the bereaved family. Concurrently, City Commissioner of Police N Kamini recommended additional compensation through the Police Salary Package, facilitated by the SBI.

On Thursday, SBI officials, led by Naveen Kumar, presented the Rs 70 lakh compensation to the family members of the late constable in the presence of the Commissioner and other dignitaries. Deputy Commissioner (South) S Selvakumar joined the ceremony to offer support and condolences.

The compensation aims to alleviate the financial burden on the family and recognizes the sacrifices made by law enforcement officers in the line of duty. The ceremony underscored the collaborative efforts between the government and financial institutions to support the families of those who dedicate their lives to public service.
