Tragic Day on Tiruchy Roads: Three Lives Lost in Separate Accidents

TIRUCHY: Thursday proved to be a day marred by tragedy as three individuals lost their lives in separate road accidents across the region. The incidents, each marked by its own set of circumstances, highlight the need for enhanced road safety awareness.

In the first incident, S Rishal (19), a first-year college student hailing from Neduvakkottai near Mannargudi in Tiruvarur, met with a fatal accident on Thursday morning. While en route to college in Kumbakonam, Rishal lost control of his vehicle, colliding with a roadside tree. The impact resulted in a head injury, and tragically, he succumbed to his injuries on the spot. Mannargudi police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.

Similarly, a couple, Muthukrishnanan (39) and Suganthi (37), residents of Manalmedu in Mayiladuthurai district, faced a devastating incident while heading to Kattumannarkovil for Deepavali shopping on Wednesday evening. The family, traveling on a bike, encountered a pothole that led to a fatal accident. Suganthi lost her life on the spot, leaving the family in shock. Manalmedu police have initiated an investigation into the incident.

In the third tragic mishap, Tamil Selvan and his wife Meenakshi (49), residents of No 1 Tollgate, were involved in a collision with a government bus while on their way to the Anjeneyar temple in Mambalasalai, Srirangam. Meenakshi fell onto the road, and the bus tragically ran over her. Tiruchy Traffic Intelligence police swiftly responded to the scene, registering a case and initiating investigations into the circumstances surrounding this heartbreaking incident.

The series of accidents serves as a stark reminder of the importance of road safety measures and vigilant driving. Authorities are urging motorists to exercise caution and adhere to traffic regulations to prevent further loss of life on the roads.
